Global Signage Refresh
Design System
Art Direction
Building a clearer workplace experience at global scale.
A global signage initiative focused on simplifying how information is communicated across ByteDance workplaces. Rather than simply refreshing the visual design, I worked across regions and functions to rethink what signage was truly necessary, reduce visual clutter, and build a more consistent and scalable system for both existing and future offices.

I approached signage as an information system rather than a collection of individual graphics. Working with cross-functional teams, I audited existing content, consolidated recurring messages, clarified information hierarchy, and developed a modular visual system with clear usage principles.
The result is a flexible framework that allows offices to adapt to local needs while maintaining a consistent global experience.

Impact and Growth
From individual signs to a scalable global system.
Across 7 pilot sites, 692 signs were reviewed, with 38% removed, 24% merged, and 26% redesigned. The broader rationalization effort has supported the removal of 2,674 signs across Non-China offices.
Beyond reducing visual clutter, the project established a clearer foundation for how workplace signage is created, managed, and scaled as new offices open and existing spaces evolve.
